Taking off to France?

Hello,

The boyfriend and I (late twenties) have recently been thinking about moving to France for a year. We both have pretty solid jobs in Ireland and would be going purely for the experience. Is this a wise move, considering the job situation in Ireland, or would it be a foolish decision?

Any opinions welcome!

Having read up a bit about it myself, I think it is probably not the wisest economic move as unemployment is high and it is difficult unless you speak french well. However, if you are both young and flexible with some savings behind you, then if it is something you really want to do, you should do it while you are young. However, have a look at some websites first and maybe go there on a long holiday first. Best of luck.

I know quite a few French people. Jobs are very hard to get, and wages are DIRE. Seriously, I know poeple with degrees and masters degrees on 15k in France.

If you can afford to not work for 6 months or so as you learn the language and look for a job, definitely go for it (I love France too).
