I was leaving work on Saturday and saw throngs of young people heading in the direction of the park. You could see it was a receipe for disaster. They were well and truely off their face before the concert even began. The clothes on some of the women or lack of was a disgrace.
I was in the Chapelizod area and didn't see a great Garda presence.
The organisers should have realised that the type of demographic attending Snoop Doggy Dog and Swedish House Mafia is completely different from other concerts planned over the summer and made appropriate plans.
I have heard from some young people I know who attended the gig that ecstasy was more freely available than they have ever seen it. At the likes of oxygen, attendees had to seek out drugs, at this event people were approached numerous times. A dreadful tragedy and I hope there are some lessons learned.
Also there were a lot of minors there, even though it was an 18+ event.
I thought I posted this earlier, seems to have disappeared.
First point i'd like to make is that this was blown out of proportion, how many stabbings were there last weekend in towns of 45,000? Probably near enough to the 9 at the event, I'm not saying this is a good thing but it reflects society at large.
If everyone had been on ecstasy there would have been less violence. The violence was caused by alcohol and/or other drugs.
I'd like to know what the 115 Garda on duty at the event were actually doing because from all reports they did nothing. That there were so few arrests for drunk and disorderly at it is surprising given reports.
MCD should have refused entry to anyone drunk, very simple. The Garda should have been active in taking alcohol off those under-age and off anyone who was drunk.

“If you had say Christmas or say St Patrick’s Day on the 17th of March and the same set of people – and that typically does happen – came in, we wouldn’t be calling for the arrest of Santa Claus or St Patrick.”
