Could someone please explain to me what the sw11 form is and what are the pros and cons of submitting it after a maternity leave? Thanking you in advance.

Did you take unpaid leave as part of your maternity leave
an employment contribution may be credited to your record for each week that you take unpaid maternity leave. This makes sure that your cover for social welfare benefits is kept up to date.

Your employer needs to submit it

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did take 10 weeks unpaid leave. Excuse my ignorance, but if I submit the sw11 form will I have to pay money now?

No; as far as i am aware.

-- it just means that your PRSI records are updated and you get the credits for the weeks that you took unpaid leave

Your payroll dept should be able to confirm this though
