SW Qualified dependant made to work

Hi

Just a quick question. I have tried to find information on this but can't anywhere. Not trying to get anyones noses up but can someone clarify is an adult dependant not expected to find employment.

For example a couple on the dole does the AD (usually wife but not always) need to prove to SW that they are actively seeking employment.

If the answer is no to this can someone clarify why this should be so.

The answer is no.

Only the claimant has to fulfil the requirements with regards to looking for work etc. The AD would be most likely home looking after the kids and being a housewife.
