Suzy D's Report on Wolfey the Golfer

Clarkey sent Wolfey's name forward to Government having been involved in reviewing Wolfey's suitabliity for the post as Chairman of the JAAB and is now calling for his resignation, politely, while denying he is!!
Just shows you these judges are not the smartest operators out there , Chief justice Clarke has been incredibly foolish in bringing the media attention back onto this issue when it was being largely forgotten about. I think they need to get some lessons from the politicians in how to bury a story, the politicians were actually trying to help then bury this story even though both Dara Calleary and Phil Hogan were forced out.
By turning up their noses at Wolfe and hoping to shame him into going away they have ended up shining a light into the dark recesses of the judiciary and how judges are appointed. Maybe the whole thing will be opened to other professionals outside the legal profession now as Shane Ross was trying to do in his judicial appointnents bill

That is, by far, the worst part of this whole affair; it's making Shane Ross look good, it's making him look like more than a gentrified urban Danny Healy-Rae.

Calls into question a lot of judgments of the supreme court when they are unable to adjudicate properly on their own affairs. A lot of the problem is that they are very far removed from ordinary people and their lives. The way the media reports on their judgements as if they are some sort of God's beyond question

That's the way it should be though. The decision of a court has to be seen to be fair, to be impartial and to be legitimate. Otherwise the administration of justice becomes a function of partisan politics or, worse, mob rule.
Any actions what undermine the perceived legitimacy of the judiciary are dangerous, especially when those actions are taken by members of the judiciary itself. This whole thing stinks and combined with social media and the rise of populist political parties such as the Shinners it is very dangerous as it undermines the institutions of the State.

Urgh, can't seem to post a very clever photo from Quadrophenia that would have made this reply hilarious!
