Are employers represented by IBEC honour-bound to increase the salary of their workers in accordance with the latest sustaining progress agreement? Who does the 7% salary increase over 18 months mentioned in the document apply to?
Im almost sure the answer is no. My company is a member of IBEC and there are those who get sustaining progress increases and there those who dont. I imagine that if a unionised company which was a member of IBEC decided not to pay the increase that they would have an industrial relations crisis on their hands.
AFAIK, provided the company recognise the union, then its up to the union to agree to adopt the proposals and for the companies to implement it. We have various unions here at work and they voted and agreed with the proposals so they get their increases. I'm staff so therefor not in a union and am not entitled to the terms of the agreement.
