Support a raised bed

Hi There,

Looking for some help re: my son's bedroom.
Have a solid wooden bed and want to raise it on top of "box" in boxroom. I'm looking for ideas on how to SUPPORT the bed at the other end. I will then be getting storage under and have seen some chests in IKE* that will fit but just need the SUPPORT bit done first.

Can anyone help????
TIA
Dee

That doesn't sound safe to me - how about extending the 'box' part out with a built-in frame to accommodate some toy boxes etc?
Anything free-standing would be too dangerous, what if the bed fell while the child was in it? or playing near it?

I would think the best approach is to get a steel frame made up to fit under the bed. This can be screwed to the floor and bolted to the bedroom wall to stabilise it.

Then the bed can be fixed to the box over stairs and to the stabilised frame. Brackets, screws etc can be used to fix this in place.

If you have any doubt about this you can fit a further metal or wooden joist to the wall under the bedframe allowing support off the wall for the bed frame.

Once the bed is supported and the supports are fixed in place you should have no concerns about stability. Unless the bedframe is in poor condition.
