Does anybody know where I can either purchase, or have made, a 6' bed. The web sites of most of the furniture companies don't seem to have them, King size (5') is the largest. Interested in wooden (oak maybe) wooden frame bed, which will be delivered and assembled.

We bought our oak superking 6ft x 6ft 6inch in Arramount. It was delivered but we had to assemble it ourselves. It took three of us nearly an hour. There are 6 legs - the four corners and two struts in the middle of the bed.

normally available from most furniture retailers -- not in stock but a few days wait. Not cheap at all mind

Hi, I bought mine when living in the UK in TJ Huges for a little over £600. Not sure if TJ's has any branches here or maybe up North? However, whilst I loved it (it really was the most comfortable bed I ever slept in!!) I did find it difficult to buy sheets/duvets/covers as not many places stock the superking size. When I did find the sheets etc they were very expensive (something to consider before buying the bed). Unfortunately, when I moved back I had to get the local council to take it to the tip as the house I was moving to was not big enough to accomodate the bed size, local charities didnt want it either because of the large size - in fact when I do get around to buying my own place I would have had to base the bedroom around the bed!!

There are some definite downsides to owning such a big bed which all need to be taken into consideration but it really was one of best beds I have ever had!

Beds.ie do superking size beds, they will deliver and (I'm fairly sure) will assemble the frame for you. I used them last year and they were very helpful.

Many thanks for responses. The IKEA max bed size is King, not Superking. I'll look into the other suppliers mentioned. I really need to have the supplier assemble the bed - no handyman/woman skills in our house!

If you have a root around on www.furniture.ie you may find something suitable.

As mentioned above the bedclothes may be a problem but Arnotts might be able to supply these.

I find it strange you all seem to find it difficult to get linen as any clearance sections I look at seem to have loads of super king....but very little king size which seems to be the norm these days.

Clearys & Debenhams often have clearouts on this size linen.

Never had a problem geting bedlinen. Bought our bed about 8 yrs ago sleep impression (the memory foam one) in Meubles in Kilkenny.

Flanagans in Mount Merrion, we got our oak superking there 5 years ago, delivered and assembled.

I know they have superkingsize as I ordered one thinking it was kingsize. Had to change it to kingsize as all our bedding etc is in kingsize!

I had a custom 7ft+ bed manufactured by BlindCraft a few years ago.
I know it's incredibly nosey, but dare I ask why? Our 6' superking is a great luxury, allowing a decent night's sleep even with a child or two in the middle, but 7' - wow?

we got our 6x6 in The Top Drawer, find it brilliant, can't cope when i sleep in smaller beds, as for linen have had no problem at all, have sheets from Debenhams, Hickey Homewares & even Dunnes who all do SuperKing ranges.

Why for those five in a bed orgies of course!

But seriously, the length is over 7' (think the width is still around 6'). The link I posted will tell you why.
