I have a Roto deadbolt & latch system in my upvc door and recently the latch is sticking when trying to close the door ie. not making contact with the strike plate/receiver.
I removed the latch (just one screw involved) and replaced and worked fine a couple of times but same problem is back.
Question is - do I need to replace the entire unit here?
Bolt is similar to the [broken link removed]
except it has 4 x smaller dead bolts bolts instead of v-cams and hooks.
Thanks in advance...
Unfortunately the company who installed are gone bust..
You will find that the problem is not the latch but the door. Very easy to fix but difficult to (too long)to explane in text.
In a nut shell adjust your hinges. If you want me to talk you through it pm me
Thanks Comp' but the door is perfectly aligned with the strike plate/receiver - simply when I use handle to open door, the latch retracts ok but when I release the handle the latch only comes back out half way and doesn't extend fully (this is with door open).
WD40 is great for any kind of sticking action in a door or window latch. There is a screw thingy at the top edge of my door, near the hinge end, that you can rotate a little and this will rise or drop the height of the door slightly.
Now that you have silicone spray you should give all your window and door hardward (locks & hinges etc) a light clean and spray, it will prolong the life span of them. Its what the manufacturers recommend.
