State Pension changing to Monthly

Hi

I recently changed the bank to which my state pension is to be paid to.

They wrote back to me stating that this had been done but also that my payment would change from weekly to monthly. I didn't ask for this part.

Does anyone know if 'monthly' means every month or every four weeks. I'm just wondering as monthly would mean a slightly different amount each month.

Can I ask to have pension paid monthly instead of weekly ?

I don't remember any choice like that when applying for a pension
 
It certainly wasn't an option in the past for payments to customers living in Ireland. Foreign pensions are paid on a 4-weekly basis.
