Could anybody help me on this. I have two young children, one of whom has special needs.
I am in the process of separating from my my husband. He has moved out of the family home and set up with a new partner and her child. I am taking him to court for maintenance, but he has since lost his job. I am unable to pay the full mortgage which is E1,586 per month. H have been told that the Interest on the mortgage is E1,400 per month I am in receipt of Carers Allowance, Domicilliary Care Allowance and Respite Care Grant. I have also applied for Lone Parents Allowance.
Would I be entitled to claim for Mortgage Interest Supplement and if so how much would this be?

Yes, you can make an application for Mortgage Interest Supplement. The Domiciliary Care Allowance & Respite Care Grant will not be counted as income.

You should contact your Community Welfare Officer (CWO) at the local health centre for application forms and further information. The CWO will advise you on likely entitlements.
