starting career?

hi im a single mom and working mon to fri 9-5, i have just bought a house so starting a mortgage on my own, have full time childcare costs also. i have a a part time job to get by! i have completed a course in Human Resource Managemnet and am commencing a Higher Diploma in Personnell Management in UCC this autumn. I have tried and tried recruitment agency after another and only looking for an HR admin role to get me in the door, problem is they are all looking for experience, which i do not have, i have in general admin, but nothing relating to HR. Otherwise its contract roles which i would take if i had no responsibilites.... my question to ask is, is there any point in paying 2,900 per year for another course, loosing time with my son to find myself in same situation in two years. i cant afford to take a very junior role because of my mortgage? so is it too late to try and start a career? ps am only 26! :)

It depends on what you mean by the above...What would you define as a very junior salary. Remeber that every one has to start somewhere. Is there any chance of getting some HR work in your current P/T position?

i personally wouldnt go that far just yet. im working in HR at the moment got in the door without any qualifications i just got lucky i guess. i sent my cv in everywhere and one day got a call that they were looking for someone. now im there 3 years. been going to college for 2 yrs they are paying for it. half day every friday to attend the course. if you can get your foot in the door you can do the same thing if you want to go higher. you have a good start now with the degree and you have experience just not in HR. just send your cvs everywhere. I work in HR in the hospital have you tried the sending your CV to the hospital in Cork, council in Cork etc. Good luck.
 
I think there is perhaps merit in revisiting your CV and looking at the "general admin" tasks you did. How many of these were HR related, eg salaries, expense management etc.
