Stamp Duty Liability

Hi

I have a stamp duty liability on a house that I bought in 2005.
Bought as owner occupier in Nov 2005
Lived in it until Feb 2006.
Have not paid stamp duty. (then €3,500)
Although dread being faced with the figure of what I now owe, I am tackling it head on now.

Just looking for advice as to whether it would be better for me to engage an accountant or solicitor to start the ball rolling with revenue?

Does anyone know if there are occasions where revenue would look favourable on me (and the amount if interest) as I am approaching them about payment? Or is this just wishful thinking.

I have always declared tax on rental income and never claimed the mortgage interest relief.

Tks
