Im buying an apartment, and I hope to rent it out.
Im a first time buyer so I dont have to pay stamp duty but if I wanted to rent it out straight away I would be liable for stamp duty.

So my question is:

How long would I have to live in the apartment before I could start renting it, without paying the stamp duty?

Currently the limit is 5 years

One thing to beware of is, if you but the apartment and rent it out you will pay stamp duty but also when you go to buy a property to live in, your FTB relief will be gone, as you will not be a first time buyer (it does not matter whether you live in the first property or not)

I didnt realise it was five years, thanks for the info.
