I am working in the south as a PAYE worker.

My wife has just been offered a new job in NI which she will commute to daily.

She will not be paying much tax as it's a part time job. (about £180Stg/pw)

As far as we understand, she will need to make a tax return in the south each year and claim cross border tax relief?

However, can I 'use' her tax credits in the south as if she were working part time in the south?

Hi there

Will your wife be a PAYE worker in the North?

If so, you will not have to do anything.

She will pay her tax in the North and you will pays yours in the South.

You will not be able to use her credits but you will be able to request a balancing statement at the end of the year.
