Soundproofing - ceiling of apartment

Hi,

We've just moved into a new apartment and were distressed to hear everything from sneezing, shouting and footsteps coming through the ceiling of our bedroom from our upstairs neighbour's kitchen.

I know there have been a lot of previous posts about soundproofing on this website but they seem to be mostly about party walls. Does anyone have any info on the sound proofing of ceilings? Or any success stories?
