I'm having some problems with my neighbours (above) and would like to get a survey done showing the amount of sound coming from their apartment into mine. Can anyone recommend someone who could do this for me and do you know roughly how much it will cost?
To carry out a full test on the noise transmission between walls and floors, you will need access to the adjoining property. This test will tell you if the walls and floors meet building regulation standards. Otherwise a simple sound recorded that you can buy over the internet will record the sound coming into your apartment. These systems can be left permanently on and they will only record when sound is picked up.
I attended an Oral hearing once and there was a sound metering report done by a specialist whose name I cannot recall.
However a lot of these are geared towards estimating sound from construction and use of new development towards existing residential areas so they may not be appropriate.
