What is the qualifying criteria dateline for grants for installation of solar panels for houses built in recent years.
Friend of mine built their house in 2020/2021 but has only installed panels last week. Is she entitled to anything ?

You have to apply for the grant before putting the panels in. Also only for houses that were connected to the grid before 31st December 2020

While I think your friend may not be eligible, it's probably worth phoning the SEAI and having a chat with them about individual circumstances.

The Solar PV Scheme is funded by the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment through SEAI. ​

Eligibility

• Available to all homeowners, including landlords
• Eligible for homes built and occupied on or before 31st December 2020
• Only open to homes that have had no previous funding for Solar PV at this MPRN
• You must ensure grant approval is in place before installing your panels.

You cannot apply for this grant if you have either purchased material for your solar PV system or started your solar PV installation.
