Hi I need to assess my situation and make some decisions. Currently I'm on JSA, I have developed illness over the past year+ and am in the process of applying for Disability Allowance.

My partner lives in Dublin and I've decided to move up. I don't know weather to find a place by myself (I currently get rent allowance) What is the limit in Dublin eg. Can I rent a place for 1000pm or does it need to be below a certain level. I'm sharing a place at the moment and it had to be 570 pm or lower...

Option 2. Do I find a place with the bf? - however he is self employed but it's going very badly atm, I guess his last yrs earning no more that 25k. Right now he has debts and can barely afford renting alone.

3. When I move up I'll stay with my bf until I find a place and I have the option of moving in with him permanently however he's renting from friends who cant pay the mortgage and there would be no lease and I'd have to pay rent - do I need a lease to receive rent allowance?

I'm totally confused! The ideal situation would be to move in with my bf and it not affect my payments and I could get my life back on track, I'd hope to qualify for disability and work on getting better and back into work part time as is allowed on DA.

Thanks for any advice - i'll be visiting the social and county council very shortly to get the ball rolling.

If you move in with your BF, his income will be taken into account in the means test for DA.
