Snails on willow screen

I put up a willow screen and it seems to be a magnet for the snails. They just stick to it in droves and its over my deck so I end up with snail crap on my deck. Apart from constantly taking them off, is there anything I could put on the willow screen that would make them not like it so much?
 
This year we have hand picked over 500 snails and slugs from our garden. And they still keep coming.......
 
Beer traps placed nearby will account for a sizeable number.
I prefer blue mini-pellets,my garden would quickly be denuded completely if i didt use them.
 
so if I put those blue pellets out in the garden near the deck where the willow screen is located, will it attract them away from it?

I don't like using them because of birds, but obviously the birds aren't too interested in them around here
