Smelly Washing Machine

I have a bad smell coming from my washing machine. What could it be? I had a plumber in recently and he fitted a 'trap' thinking this might be the problem, but not so. Always a bad smell, even the clothes don't smell good when they have been washed. Any suggestions please.

I had that problem few months ago, so I seen on Kim and Aggie that if you put vinegar into where you put the washing powder and turn on the washing machine as if your doing a wash, it really works.

Try running your fingers along the inside of the door rubber as there is often a build up of horrible scummy stuff inside the rubber which stinks

Could be a wet sock stuck somewhere under the seal

We had the same issue, main cause - we had a filter that was jammed. Once we got it off and cleaned it out ,it helped. Also, wipe around the door seal. Also run the machine empty and at a high temperature. All these things combined fixed our issues.

You must leave the door of a washing machine open between washes. If you close it a damp smell builds up and even gets onto washed clothes.
