Sliding door wardrobes.

I was wondering if anyone has got slide wardrobes fitted in there bedrooms. Our bed is 7 foot as hubbie v. tall and its very tight getting doors open. I got sliderobes out before and they were very expensive, anyone got the same job done from other companies, any recommendations . I live in Dublin.
 
On a recent trip to IKEA I priced sliding doors including internals and they are a fraction of the cost of the Sliderobes models. You pick and choose the internal carcass of the wardrobe and layout to suit your needs.
Komandor, Skon and Sliderobes are also other companies worth considering but not sure price wise how they work out
 
I got those Ikea sliding-door wardrobes (2m wide) and they're great. Can't remember the cost offhand now as I got a lot of other stuff at the same time, but they were definitely excellent value and I'm delighted with them. Esp as I later decided the internal layout I'd chosen (hanging bars, shelves, drawers) was not as good as it could be and I was able to change it around very easily.

Juleno, we got our sliding wardrobes from Robeplan (www.robeplan.ie), cost just under Eur2k for mirrored robes with beech panelling. Didn't want to spend too much money on them, so suited us fine - got them about two years ago and they're still great.

Just checked the cost of my Ikea ones - 2m wide, one mirrored door, one white (so each 1m wide), hanging rails, four shelves and four drawers - Stg£387 altogether.
 
juleno you dont say what type of house you have ie 3 bed semi , terraced etc. if going the ikea route check that a door height x 1000mm will fit up and turn on your stairs. also at £387 you also have to add the cost of delivery ,your inside carcass's and assembly and installation of same, finding a carpenter to do it now wont be to difficult and remember he has to be paid to. for piece of mind that comes from getting a reputable co here to do it , as in some of those already mentioned you might not be to far away from the 2k quoted anyway

sorry i didnt realise that 387 inc interiors, thats certainly worth a look check their max height though as you may have to add something to take the top track
 
That's a good point about the doors fitting in to your house. However they are made to be installed by anybody good with DIY (so don't necessarily need a fitter). Delivery to south of the border (from Belfast) is Stg£50 per pallet with a minimum of 2 pallets, so if you were only getting wardrobes that would be a big extra cost.
 
Thank you for all your replies, thats given me loads to go on, might check out ikea, have robeplan coming to give quote.
 
I used Skon last year, I think they were slightly cheaper than Robeplan. We've got high ceilings and wanted doors to fill the whole space, so we couldn't get Ikea.
 
Dubgem, how many IKEA pallets would you fill with a sliding wardrobe? I'm thinking about going down that route as I wouldn't be able to fit it into my nifty Nissan Note...
