SKY+ Installation

Hi,

I am looking for some clarification on the installation of Sky+, bearing the following in mind.

I am a long term sky subscriber and bought a Sky+ box through ebay as a replacement for my old box which had died. I connected up the new Sky+ box ok, and inserted the viewing card, and without having to contact Sky, my Sky subscription works fine. This is where I get a bit confused.

I called Sky and was informed that to get subscribe to Sky+, I would need to have a land line and also a 2nd sky connection (2nd LNB). The LNB I have, but the landline I dont. Is there anyway around this? Can I set up the box in a friends house with a phone and then bring it to mine?

Also, possibly a stupid question, but just out of interest if the box is connected to a landline, can Sky use that to check to see where the box is located? I have a friend in Geneva who is looking to upgrade to sky+, but is afraid that if he was to connect to a land line, then it would locate him outside of ireland... Possible?

Thanks

Hey ,

Sky check your box on a regular basis to make sure it still connected to the phone line this is more for muilti room maybe sky + will work .With older digi boxes you could trick into thinking its pluged into the phone line but that wasn't much advantage.

How did you get around the Sky customer service guys? Where did you get the Sky+ box?
