I'm a lone parent of one. I'm working part-time (16hrs per week) I am receiving lone parents minus the hrs I work. I have a mortgage. Would I qualify for FIS? I don't want to seem a bum but things are extremely hard at present.

Depending on your total income, you might qualify for Mortgage Interest Supplement from the Community Welfare Officer at your local health centre.

what exactly do you mean that youi recieve OFp 'minus the hours' you work? Yopu can eqarn up to a certain amount before any deduction fro OFp is made. Are you sure youa re getting the correct rate? any chance of gettign that extra 3 hours per week to allow you apply for FIS?

I earn approx €190 a week so I'm deducted money from lPA. I also don't qualify for morg allowance. i don't think I can get any more working hrs. i think I'll make a trip to the citizens advice. thanks for your contribution
