Hi everyone, I wonder was there anyone in similar situation- I am back to college since september 2009 and just today I recieved a letter saying that my RA will be taken off me next week! They saying that a full time student is not eligeble for RA. They are giving me condition to proof that I am on Back to Education scheme, which I haven't applied for, because the lady in SW told me I am not entitled to Back to Education as I have higher qualifications than the school I am in. So I tought I will not bother applying for that and will just stay on OFP. In the mean time I have made a claim looking an assistance towards creche fee, as advised by my officer by the way, and just today they are telling me I will not get any of the payments.
The other thing is, I have been offered RAS some time ago and I went for it, being interviewed lets say month ago but I didn't hear from them yet. If I go and remind my self will it work out? But if I won't be recieving RA anymore will I be entitled to RAS? Thank you for reading. Please help.

A person in full time education is not entitled to Supplementary Welfare Allowance (which Rent Supplement is part of), with the exception of those on back to education schemes. This is why the CWO asked if you were on the Back to Education Allowance.

You should contact your local authority and ask about your RAS application.

Thanks gipiman, I went to the city hall and made them move on with my RAS application, they rang my landlord the same day and will sign uo the contract with him. I hope it is not going be to late, as I haven't received my RA cheque this week. I am praying at the same time to become independent finally :D
