Hi guys first time posting so excuse me if i have posted in wrong section.

My question i need advice on is that i am a single father who claims job's seeker's allowance. Ive been claiming about 6 months and have recentley done another means test. The new allowance i am entitled to is 139.25 euro, i was recieving 160euro. I pay chilld maintenance of 80euro a week. My child's mother recieves certain payments too but not sure exactly which ones. The department of social and family affairs know that she recieves this ammount from me each week but am i entitiled to anything more than job seekers?. Ive allways worked since i left school and this is the first time im on benifits so i dont know how it all works really. Thanks

Have a look at the stickies at the top of this thread, there may be further benefits available to you such as rent assistance and or mortgage assistance.

Also you can put in a claim for previous years one parent tax credits if applicable, this is a significant amount for each year that you were not living with the mother of your child.

Hi again ive just being reading other threads and was just wondering is 320euro a month i pay in child maintenance too low? My child is nearly 2 and after i read a few threads i wondered is this too low a sum? What would be the perfect sum for someone on minimun wage? Any advice or opinions?

Oh cheers man. Thanks for replying. If my child mother also claims lone parents will this affect her is i do as you suggested? Thanks again!

How were and are you paying 80 Euro out of 139 or even 160? Do you have free food and lodging.

In relation to 80 Euro a week and whether it's enough maintenance for a child, it depends on one's lifestyle but the 80 Euro for someone on welfare would be considered high.

But it's pretty useless if you're claiming benefits.
Yes so he can't claim for 2009 but he could claim for previous years his original post did not seem to indicate that he has been unemployed for more than a year.
it seems to be a little known tax credit and I think the more people that know about it the better.
