Sign on or transfer tax credits

Hi,
My wife was made redundant which presents two options:
1. She transfers her tax credits to me?
2. Sh doesn't transfer tax credits and just claims the dole?

Anyone in a similar situation and if so can you tell me which works out better or what the pros and cons are?

She can do both - but you need to be aware that jobesskers allowance is taxable (except for the first €13 per week). so if you get her tax credits, there may be a liability at the end of the year.
