Hi,i am wondering what happens when a person applies for jobseekers benefit, on line, through my welfare,i will be made unemployed for 6 weeks in August.Do i have to apply straight away, do i have to go to social welfare office after applying online,and how long does it take,any help is appreciated.TIA.

Apply for Jobseeker's Payment

<p>If you are unemployed, and looking for work you may be entitled to a weekly Jobseeker's Payment</p>

Fill in the online form immediately after you become unemployed.
Within a few days you will get a reply. You will be awarded Jobseekers benefit if you are unemployed and meet the Prsi qualification contributions.

In the award letter you will be asked to sign on at your local Intreo office at an appointed time. This is usually 3 to 4 weeks after your payments begin.
