Hi There,

Doctor has given me two weeks off due to sudden illness. I wont be able drive or work.

I have never claimed Sickness Benefit before.

What is the process ? How do i apply for the same ?

I have been working for many years and have plenty of PRSI contributions.

Read the following link :
http://www.citizensinformation.ie/c...nts/disability-and-illness/disability_benefit

I earn more than 300 euros per week, will i get :
€196 or €130.10

And is employer going to pay the rest ? ( i.e. diff of my weekly pay - illness benefit)

Any input or guidance will be of great help.
Thanks in Advance
Satin

You should get a Social Welfare medical cert from your GP (the first cert includes the application form) and send it to SW. You should get a SW medical cert for each week you're out sick, and then a final cert when you're ready to return to work.

If you have enough PRSI contributions, and as you say, you earn over €300 pw, your personal rate of Illness Benefit is €196. There are increases for qualified adults and qualified children.

Whether your employer pays you will depend on the terms and conditions of your employment - some pay, some don't.
