sick while at work and pregnant

Hi,,
just wondering does anyone know, what happens when your sick at wrk while pregnant. i've been very sick lately and just not sure what i'm entitled to. i've another 5 and a half months to maternity leave so dont want to be out sick but cant help it. any help???
 
There is no statutory entitlement to paid sick leave. Many employers will provide for some paid sick leave through the individual's contract of employment. I don't think that being sick due to pregnancy has any relevance but I may be wrong. What does your contract of employment say? See this link for more:

I think alot of it depends on the organisation that you work for.

Where I work there is a very strict policy on sickness but sickness due to pregnancy is looked at more leniently as there is a fear of being accused of discrimination.

at the end of the day if you're sick your sick and there's not a huge amount you or they can do about it.

Hi Every one. I am Four months pregnant. six weeks ago i was very sick because of my pregnancy.. because of this i called into work sick maybe four times. because i work relief in a nursing home they call me regarding my hours whenever they need me. for six weeks now i have heard nothing from them regarding hours. after numerous phone calls and visits to the nursing home to find out about what the story was with my job and to why no one had not been returning my calls i finaly got through to the manager. she told me over the phone that i had not been turning up for work. when i told her that i was very sick because of my pregnancy and that i always rang in and gave appropriate notice she just practicly said it wasent good enough. i am outraged over this. i feel i dont know where to turn. surly they could have called me in sooner to discuss this with me as i have been out of work for six weeks now and could have found a different job. and also some notice would have been nice. can anyone help me?
