Should I invest abroad?

Hi,

We own house in Ireland and think we have enough equity built up for deposit on another out foreign. Were a young couple and want somewhere where we could holiday a few weeks in the year and rent it for the rest. Germany has been suggested to me along with Bulgaria. Does anyone have any opinions on these locations.

Is concentrating most or all of your wealth into property (your PPR and now an investment property geared off your PPR presumably) the best option for your specific circumstances? If so, why? I suspect that you might be better off aiming to create a more diversified portfolio instead of just lumping more of your savings into property. Perhaps you should get independent, professional advice from a multi-agency intermediary or authorised advisor who would be in a better position that posters here to do a proper fact find/financial review and come up with a range of possible savings/investment options suitable for your specific needs?
