I agree. It is (partly) my fault. However I have just checked back through my emails and I did get a reminder in 2022 that my contract was ending. I signed up to a new 14% discount for 12 months, ending March 2023. I got no reminder in March 2023. So the reminders were hit and miss.Rather than depend on the supplier to let me know, when I sign up I put a reminder in my calendar for 2 weeks before the contract ends so I can shop around and be ready to move 1 day after contract ends. That way it does not matter if they let me know or not.
The March 2023 reminder may have gone into your spam folder
I have gas and leccy with Electric Ireland and I always get an email to let me know my contract is coming to an end and to let me know somebody will contact me with a deal to stay.
You're not wrong, but I doubt it would stimulate much switching.AFAIK it doesn't seem to be an obligation on the utilities providers, but if the toothless CRU were really interested in consumer rights they would insist it was included clearly on every bill and same with the equally toothless Comreg.
Do you have to give 1 months notice even though you contact expiredCurrent supplier - SSE Airtricity clearly say on page 1 of their bills; Your contract end date is xx/xx/25.

That's most likely Virgin Media and the likes that you are thinking of for your broadband/telly etc.Do you have to give 1 months notice even though you contact expired
