HI I wonder would anyone be able to give me some advice. I have not been with my Childs father for a long time and he pays weekly maintenance.

He only takes my daughter every 3 weeks and doesnt contribute in anyway to the rearing of her and when I ask for more assistance he bullies me etc so its not worth the grief

I just feel that lately with increased mortgages and gas bills etc that he is also getting away scott free with the financial side of things aswell

I pay 1300 PM for Mortgage and 500 euro for childcare, my daughter is a growing 6 year old so I do have to replace clothes and shoes a lot , I also run a car as I need to be able to drop her to childcare etc and have the usual household bills.

Her Father pays 100 euro per week even though he earns a healthy salary in excess of 50K. When I bring up the subject of maintenance he says he has no money yet he is away every second weekend and heads off to the states and that in the summer for 3-4 weeks, yet I can hardly afford a night out and have not had a holiday in 2.5 years.

Should he be eligable to pay more, as 100 Euro a week is not going very far.

any advice appreciated

thanks

Re: Maintenance

I have no idea of what he should or should not be paying but as far as I know maintenance is payment for rearing her. Was the payment settled by consent or by the courts ? Maybe you should try asking him to take her a bit more often so you can have a break as a compromise for the moment.

Re: Maintenance

It was agreed with the help of a solicitor and then increased marginally a couple of years ago

I have asked for a meeting but had no reply probably be forced to go back to a solicitor , was just trying to avoid it over the cost

thanks

Re: Maintenance

It might be worth looking at www.treoir.ie I see that they say the max a District Court can order a father to pay is €150, no limit in the Circuit Court.
