Living in Ireland and looking at purchasing a property in Portugal and renting as short term let. We've short-listed some properties that are close to public transport with access to city centre that we will look at this week.
Submitting bank statements and P60s to Portuguese bank as we have deposit but will need mortgage. A concierge company will look after short term let.
Should we continue to buy as private individuals or should we register a business to buy the property and carry out the short term let business?

Bookings, registering to let holiday property, repair/maintenance, key handovers, aircon charge, public liability, tax, accounting, etc. If the property is for holiday lets and to get good bookings, needs to be beside the beach. If it's in middle of city or suchlike, you'll more likely to get party lets. Be careful. Otherwise go ahead, but don't for one minute think you're going to make money out of it.
