Hi, a friend who lives in UK makes alot of angel investments. he is thinking of moving to Ireland and setting up some sort of formal company for investing. should he set up a fund? are there any favourable tax ways to go about it? any advice on what route he should go down?

This is big ticket advice and your friend will need to take expert structuring advice and it won't be cheap. Funds are big money to set up and you are looking at hundreds of thousands of Euro in professional fees. The only thing that comes to mind immediately is section 541C which deals with the tax treatment of certain Venture Managers - you'll get details here. The rest is above my paygrade.
