Septic tank smell

Hi,
Sometimes I have a bad smell from my septic tank. Does anyone know of a cheap (under 100 euro) way of getting rid of smell. I heard someone say there was a product one could put at the top of the exit vent and it minimized the odour. Does anyone know of such a product? Thanks.

You will do well to have a pleasant odour from it considering what goes into it.

Years ago the father once put a carcass (roadkill I think) into the one at home the apparant science behind it was that the rotting carcass and the bacteria etc associated with this would cause the septic tank to flourish. Looking back on it I think it sounded more like an environmental diaster with the effluent run off from the rotting carcass.

Your father was right, a rotting chicken thrown in will encourage bacterial growth and is the cheapest and most effective way to solve a smell. Its also no bigger than a rabbit that dies of natural causes and rots into the soil so that should ease your environmental conscience!!
