Evening,The Bray institute of further education have 2 evening courses mondays and tuesdays starting in September that i would like to do.(10 weeks each course)1 course is Nail tech 250e the other course is Childcare FETAC Cert 750e.
Is there anyway i can get help with funding for this. And keep my OPF.

Hi cleverclogs7

taking these courses shouldn't affect your One Parent Family Payment but I don't think there is any State funding available for the courses you mention.

It would be worth contacting the institute to find out if they have any grants or other assistance available.

I am currently doing a two year Sports & Leisure Management course(FETAC Level 5). Now the Social Welfare pay me through their Back To Education payment for every week im in college, as im finished till September that is when they will start the payment again.

At the start of each academic year they will give me a one off payment of 500 euro for books and equipment but as far as I know thats it. I will have to make a payment of 900 euro for my second year in college and I have to use that 500 for my entrance fee for second year.:(

There is a Post Leaving Cert Maintenance grant that I also get, its messy applying for it as its means tested, but totally worth it. Contact the City Of Dublin VEC.
