Selling house (upfront costs)

Anyone have an idea of the upfront costs (e.g. advertising, signage, etc.) that an estate agent would charge and are there much differences amongst estate agents?

It will vary according to where you are based.

We paid 0.5%, which included advertising and signage, plus VAT in Portmarnock (Property Team). Sherrys quoted 0.7% (open to offers) and Remax 1%.

As sheena1 says, there are many existing threads.........

And btw, the auctioneer takes their fee, from the booking deposit, so in theory, there are no 'upfront' costs.

We've just gone through this ourselves, we put our house up for sale 3 weeks ago and it's just gone sale agreed. Douglas Newman Good charged us .8% plus advertising (and VAT), the advertising cost of €280 had to be paid for upfront on the day they came around to the house.
