Selecting an apartment from plans?

I am going to purchase an apartment from plans but am concerned that I may select wrong location in the complex. Any tips here regarding selection of apt location?

* Do i go ground floor, 1st, 7th?
* Best direction to face?
* Does it really make any difference anyway, if the location is good ?

Top floor is best but always more expensive. For security the higher up you are the less chance you will be robbed and lifts don't break down too often these days. View and light adds value to the property, south facing especially if you have a balcony. Ask who else has bought, is it mainly couples or investors, also v important is how many units go to social housing.

Consider too how many neighbours a particular apartment may have. Above? Below? Both sides? The fewer, the better from a possible noise point of view.
