SEI grant - is there a minimum standard that has to be achieved?

I had a BER rating done recently - it came in as E1 :-(

The chap who did the rating recommended lots of good stuff and if this was done it would bring it to a C1 which I was happy with.

I'm now in the process of getting work done and one of the guys is telling me that the finished product has to achieve at least a B2 in order to qualify for the grants?

When I was applying for the grants for various pieces of work I never saw anything which stated that the grants were conditional on the overall rating being a given standard, but there were individual guidelines such as attic insulation had to be 300mm.

I'd be grateful if someone could clarify the above for me as I don't want to spend €6-7k and still not qualify for any grants?

There is no min requirment and no requirement to have a BER before and after the improvement.

In other words the guy is a bull****er...

Many thanks Towger....... I was very surprised to here this new development because the man I got to do the BER cert has been 110% on his advice so far so I would have been shocked if he had omitted this.

i would think where the guy is getting confused is that most new houses built under current building regs will come in at around B3 or B2 levels....

but towger is correct, theres no minimum rating to be reached in order to get the grant...

there are standards that have to be met however, and they are all to be found on the SEI website.

Can I just check 1 other thing - for dry lining is there a minimum? ie. can you use 38mm or 50mm or is the requirement for 75mm?

read first paragraph page 14.

basically, the objective is to achieve a wall u value of 0.27... but if that isnt possible a min value of 0.7 must be achieved. In order to achieve 0.27 'in most situations' a 78 slab should be used.
