SD on remortgaging my FTB property

I bought my current property as a FTB 18 months ago , now I need to remortgage it to buy a second place .
Solicitor just told me when I remortgage this existing property , if mortgage is more than 254K I have to pay Stamp Duty , is that true ?

Yes, stamp duty on mortgage deed.
0.1% on mortgage amount up to max of €630.
