Hi All,
Can anyone offer me any advise on getting satelite broadband.
Just had a guy from BBNet out at the house and he says I do not have a direct line of sight to their signal and they are the only ones who provide broadband in the area.
I am interested to know the costs involved, is it reliable and if there are any alternatives.
I only want it for home use.

Are you sure that you mean satellite and not other wireless broadband? For satellite broadband you definitely need line of sight to the satellite relaying the data! And satellite is probably one of the most expensive broadband options available.

Hi Clubman
Thanks for the information.
Yes I did mean satelite. I thought it was the only chance I have.
But I am not sure what Bbnet were offering. All they told me was that I
needed a line of sight to a particular place in the nearby town and I dont have one.
Looking at they would appear to be offering some wireless, line of sight broadband and not satellite. There are true satellite broadband providers out there (e.g. [broken link removed]) which you should be able to receive no matter where you are located, but as ClubMan says it ain't cheap...
Did you check the Government broadband site linked from the key topic that I linked above for possible other services in your area? Perhaps might be an option?
