I think the OP would actually be better off on annual pay of €26000, since then he or she would only be paying PRSI and no health levy. If you plug 26000 into the calculator you end up with net pay €1782.00 every 4 weeks, which gives an extra €689 over the year by my reckoning. Either the OP could volunteer to go on a lower rate (!!), or to pay the €500 into their pension. This assumes no ot or bonuses to bring it significantly over the basic 26000 of course.
This is definitely worth considering by the OP- basically pay the excess over 26000 into a pension fund and you'll come out with €1781 per payslip rather than €1729.
Just looking at this thread.. anyidea how I would calculate home pay if I was getting 140 daily rate via IT contracting agency, its paid under umbrella company???
