Anyone out there got one of these phones? I got one as a present and it's driving me nuts. It seems to shut itself off every now and then and when I turn it on again it says 'Sim not present'. Is this a common fault or just me?

You could try opening it up and checking the SIM contacts; clean them, and ensure the SIM card is securely clipped in.

Failing that, can you bring the phone back - is it under warranty?

(I know it's a present, but a faulty phone is still a fault phone and is under warranty, if you can prove where it was bought from.)

I've done all that and still no joy. Will take it back to the shop this weekend. I rang the Meteor customer service line and the operator told me she had one of these phones and got rid of it because it was useless - great advertisement!!

One of my kids has the same problem with a 3-month-old model. Looks like we'll be bringing it back...
