No parts problems whatsoever for the forseeable future but there is undoubtably an image problem with second hand rovers.Murt10 said:I think the Rover company went bust and they have been bought over by some Chinese company. There may be a problem sourcing parts.
Also when you go to sell it you are going to have a hell of a job.

coleen said:ok that all looks as if i should run a mile i asked two rover owners both never had a problem but they did tell me no trade in value one of them is keeping on to the car as they could not get a garage to accept rover as a trade in
X-Man said:coleen, ask yourself why is the trade-in value bad.
Frankly the whole anti-Rover thing smacks a lot more of anti-British sentiment than anything based in reality.
PaulH said:Coleen, I'd suggest finding out what kind of engine your loaner 400 has under the bonnet before abandoning the idea completely.
Some of the late '90s 400 series (including my 420 Gsi) have Honda engines. Absolutely brilliant drive for the money I paid for it. No gasket or other problems, and doesn't leak as much as a drop of oil.
If it doesn't have a Honda engine, I don't know, but I'd be inclined to avoid.
