Right to A Refund for Faulty Goods

I returned a faulty bag to a shop about a month ago. I phoned last week and was advised I would get a credit note. I was happy enough with this. However yesterday I went into the shop to pick something and was told the manufacturer would not give the shop a credit but will replace the bag and therefore as it has to come from Spain I will have to wait another maybe three weeks for the replacement. Do I have a right to insist on a refund?
