Right Time To Switch Funds

Hi

I'm aged 44 and a member of my employer's defined contribution scheme with Irish Life. There are four funds available. Indexed Global Equity, Consensus, Secure Performance and Exempt Cash. The scheme allows for six free changes per year. In November 07 I switched from Consensus to the Exempt Cash Fund. Since then the Consensus Fund has lost approx 25% of its value. What do you think of switching back into the Consensus Fund? Is this the right time?

Regards

Eugene

What you're attempting to do is time the markets which is impossible. Time in the market is far more important than timing the market over the long term, so I'd recommend that you switch back into the Consensus Fund now - not because I believe it has reached the bottom but because it's the only way to be certain you'll catch the start of the recovery, whenever that might be.
