I filed a tax return for 2012 for myself and my husband at the end of April via RoS (husband had his own business but moved to PAYE employment since 2011), it calculated that we were due a refund.
In the past, these have issued within the same week, but this time we heard nothing at all so I phoned them today and was told, because the refund is over 3k, it is being "checked" and it could be "a few weeks".
What's being checked? (All our income last year was PAYE)
Or how long could this take?
