Hello,
I've been living in Switzerland for 11+ years but due to a recent bereavement (my son), I'm planning to move home to be closer to the family and simplify things. I've a few investments (internaxx, Swiss apartment, some cash in bank). Does anyone know the process for moving residency and tax affairs to Ireland whilst maximising tax efficiency. The plan is to stat in ireland indefinitely.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated or recommended advisory services

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your son.

If you have money in UCITS funds, it would be wise to consider moving funds to UK investment trust or stocks that offer dividends to avoid the Eight-year rule. There is a lot on this form about this topic. But do the sums and see if it suits you.

Likewise, very sorry to hear of your loss. Regarding your question, I'd highly recommend you seek professional advice, especially around CGT on any investments. I worked in CH for several years, and there is quite a difference in tax levied here in Ireland.
