I've applied to return to college in sept to do nursing as a mature student. i will be only 2 yrs out college after doing a degree in accountancy. I know i will have to pay the full fees. does anyone know is there any way getting around not having to pay them or is there any kind of benefits i can get?

I have 2 friends who returned to college after already doing a course and both had to pay full fees and as far as i know they dont get any grants or support in any way.

You can understand why though as you have already been given the opportunity to sit a degree at no cost, if it was free all the way wed never get jobs.

According to that website under the section Course Fees:

"If you are planning to progress to full-time further education or undergraduate higher education in Ireland for the first time and you meet certain nationality and residency requirements, you should be eligible to have course fees paid on your behalf by the State. If you then progress to post-graduate education, it is possible through the means-tested maintenance grant schemes to have all or part of your tuition fees paid for by your local grant-administering body. It is thus possible, depending on your means, to enrol in a PLC course and graduate some time later with a Doctorate degree without you being required to pay tuition fees."

You can claim tax back at end of year. Tax office will need you to fill in tuition form.
